I seem to manage a Currently post about once a year these days – so why not kick 2017 off with one? Complete with photos from a party that we threw in November? Sounds legit. 😉
In my defense, 2016 was long and obnoxious (but great in personal ways!) and I’d often sit down to write a post only to have the life force sucked out of me by some news story that I decided to read just before typing. Lesson learned.
But, it’s a new year and while it’s not a new me I am pumped for the months to come. In that spirit, here’s a snapshot of where things are now and a bit of where things are headed!
Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty! Her books are such a guilty pleasure for me and this isn’t the highest rated (or my personal favorite so far) but I always love how saucy and terrible each and every one of her characters end up being. In other book news, I’m finally starting my book club back up! My reading goal is 80 books again this year and I’m excited to get suggestions for books that I might not read if not for outside suggestions.
So, so much. Ready to Blog really hit its stride last year, but that meant that I spent so much time working and not even close to enough time engaging here on the blog or via Ready to Blog’s social channels. This year I’m going to bring everything together (including launching a Ready to Blog blog with lots of tips and advice!) in a really exciting way.
ALSO. Yikes. I know I’m like 25 years behind on having a Facebook page for this blog (frankly, I’ve never wanted to have one) but I did want to give people an easier way of contacting me from Instagram so I went ahead and created one in order to have a business IG account. So – fancy giving TIB a like on Facebook? I’m thinking I’ll throw some This & That-worthy links up there in addition to posts and photo projects that I’m working on! It’d be nice to have more real-time interactions with you guys so this is a win even though I’ve been stubborn up to this point!
Being a badass, generally. I didn’t make resolutions this year but I have been gearing up for some big changes since about October of last year. Most of the implications are for my businesses, but I’ve also been working really hard to be able to let my hair down a bit this year. I’ve been crazy about work and moving and wedding planning for forever and I’d like to allow myself to step back and enjoy what I’ve built. So I will! I know that life won’t ever be perfect but being really intentional with how I spend my time and who I spend it with has been revolutionary for me and I’m working on keeping that up throughout 2017.
I got the most amazing faux fur throw for my reading chair over Christmas and I’m obsessed. If you’re in the UK you can find it here. It’s everything and if I ever go missing look for me hidden under it first!
Looking Forward To
Being able to eat everything pictured below again. I’m currently doing my second Whole 30 after having done one a few years ago to great results. I’m actually feeling amazing already (I started with dinner on the first of January) and have all of my meals planned out for the month. I’m thoroughly enjoying how much energy I have while doing this plan but there have been a lot of longing looks at chocolate going on in this house since I started. Wish me luck!
So that’s it for now! Happy New Year, Happy Wednesday, Happy Everything!
