I’m about to leave for the airport, to get on a plane and head home for a few weeks! I’m excited, but also exhausted and looking forward to the week after next when I can actually relax a little and sink into the season.
Until I land, ready to bombard you with photos of palm trees and sandy beaches for a few weeks–I know I give you a hard time, Miami, but you are gorgeous–I’ll share some more of my photos from Istanbul!
We didn’t do much intense sightseeing, but we got to explore a bit and got to experience the spice markets and the bridges packed with fishermen. While I love museums and formal tours and all that, I really appreciated that we got to see the city from the view of people who actually live there. It was nice to go to restaurants that our hosts loved and wanted to share with us, and pick up cheeses for the dinner that they were preparing that night. On our second day, we got driven inside pretty early on due to the rain, but we still had a lovely walk along the river and got to warm up with tea and yummy food later in the day.
