I woke up this morning completely stuffed up and from one of the worst dreams I’ve ever had, so this post is as much an escape for me as it is for you!
Okay. We’re back on track!
On our first day in Key West, we headed straight for the Sunset Pier after lunch and luckily arrived just before the first (and almost only) sprinkling of rain of our trip. We were greeted with some gorgeous live music and, after only a few minutes of wind and rain, a lot of blue skies.
We did order our Dark & Stormies before the rain finished, so we went ahead and enjoyed those anyway even though the sun decided to join us! Sunset Pier can get incredibly busy, especially around – shock! – sunset, but if you like to travel on off days like us or just pop in for lunch, you can get the great views, drinks, and food without the massive crowd!
After our round, we slinked home for a much needed nap since one of us (me) can’t handle long drives like they used to! We picked up snacks and treats along the way and marveled at the unusually quiet Duval Street, feeling lucky that we were in this place, with each other, with all the time in the world.
Hope you enjoyed these! Assuming that I don’t cook up too many batches of Dark & Stormies tonight with the Ginger Beer that I spotted in the fridge, there will be more Key West tomorrow!
