On the final day of our trip, we got ourselves a late checkout (4pm! Miracle!), packed bags for the day, and set out to wander around during our last hours in the city. We pretty much flipped a coin to decide which direction to head out in and went on our way.
Our first stop was Sé do Porto (Porto Cathedral), which was about a five minute walk from our hotel. The grounds offered absolutely stunning views of the city. I could bang on about them but I’ll just let the photos do the work:
After taking in the views, we followed literally the most winding path of stairs down to the river. I’m not sure that we even knew where we were going for 80% of the time, but thankfully Google Maps told us that eventually, some day, we’d be dumped out near the Douro so we soldiered on!
When we finally made it, I kissed the ground and we found the nearest riverside café to sit, people watch, and enjoy local wine and port!
After that, we made our way to the other side of the river (across that huge bridge that has the teeny tiniest sidewalk known to man). More on that tomorrow!
