This is it! The last of Rome!
Looking back on the photos from this trip is a great mood-booster! Let me tell you, it’s not a secret that I love to travel, but the fact that Ryan and I were able to take a trip like this and travel for the sake of traveling together is really special to me. We won’t be able to do this forever, and I cherish trips like this and the time that we get to spend soaking in new cities.
My last travel tip for Rome? Be wary of restaurants near landmarks that don’t have posted menus. This doesn’t count for restaurants on the nicer side of the spectrum since they might not have their menus posted out front anyway, but any cafe-type joints that don’t have a menu up (most do) and are pushy about ordering without actually letting you see the menu at all are probably going to be way overpriced – something you won’t find out until you get the bill. On the whole, we ate really well and really cheaply throughout the city without even trying, but we did have a bit of a “oh god” moment when one lunch bill came to €75! I don’t think any of our full dinners, complete with wine and starters, came even close to that! We laughed it off, and should definitely have insisted on checking the menu, but since it’s so avoidable so I thought I’d mention it!
Thank you guys so much for reading along! We had a great time on the trip and it’s been really nice to share the photos with you! To Ryan: THANK YOU for such an amazing surprise. I’ll never forget it!
