It’s pretty clear by now that I’m determined to catch you up on life since March, no? 😉 It was weird to not blog during a time that so very much was happening, but it’s also kind of nice to get to relive all of that stuff now with a clearer head, so I hope you’ll hang with me with these trips down memory lane!
Soon after my shoot with Samantha and James, I had another opportunity to shoot something a bit out of my comfort zone. I tend to take photos of things more than people, so I’ve been trying to put myself into situations where my subjects are a bit more unpredictable. Switching gears from the posed shots of an engagement shoot, I flexed a few different muscles by shooting an amazing cooking workshop held by Paul Burton of Salt Box.
Everything but the Oink, which was held April 9th & 10th at Hart’s Bakery here in Bristol is a two day adventure in “all things porcine” in which attendees learn butchery skills in a laid back environment. I have to say, it’s one thing to have a book on making your own bacon and ham (guilty party over here) and actually learning hands on how to do it for yourself!
Just look at how happy everyone looks! Even from behind the lens, Paul’s instruction made something that seems so complicated completely accessible.
You can read all about the upcoming workshop here, and if you’re at all interested in butchery or curing your own meats, this is a can’t miss! Especially since the second day you’re able to invite a loved one for a breakfast full of all the goodies you made on the first day!
Thanks so much for letting me stick my camera in your students faces, Paul!
And Happy Thursday!
