And we’re back! Hope yesterday’s post didn’t make you too hungry. Apologies in advance for whatever you might stuff your face with after today’s!
First up, a bit of East London. This is such a cool area, down to the doorknobs!
Hokay. Yesterday, I left you hanging after some delicious cheese at Androuet, let’s pick up with some fish n’ chips at Poppie’s!
The restaurant is decked out in memorabilia and trinkets that were important to the owner, Poppie himself, because they represent parts of his childhood. Sweet, huh? The vibe is reminiscent of a super fun, American diner and I don’t think I need to tell you that the food was yum.
We moved on to Aladin for curry after that. Did you know that London is the Indian food capitol of the world? I thought that was pretty cool and unsurprising when you think about the sheer volume of Indian restaurants in the East London area.
My favorite (favorite favorite favorite) stop of the tour was Beigel Bake.
This place. Open 24 hours a day. Do I even need to say anything else? The salt beef bagel, served with some seriously strong mustard, made my entire day. I was so full at this point and was actually going to pass on eating at this stop, but it’s been about a billion years since I’ve had a good bagel and couldn’t help myself. It was well worth having to undo the top button on my pants! So delicious.
Also, I think Sammy deserves a serious round of applause for making upwards of 3,000 bagels a day!
And finally, we rounded out the day at Pizza East for a salted caramel tart and black tea. Both were divine!
Thanks again to Eating London Food Tours for having me along!
