Happy Friday, fam! It’s been…a long time since I’ve dusted off my keyboard and checked in, published a This and That, or even thought about blogging in general. Really, I’ve been pretty muted on social media across the board for the last few weeks while I focus on work and non-internet life things. Real talk? It’s been glorious. The camera roll on my phone hasn’t been exhausted to within an inch of its life and poor Ryan can eat his food before it gets cold because I’m no longer hovering over his dishes with my camera.
While my break has been great as far as social media-induced anxiety goes, I’ve felt pretty creatively stifled outside of work as I had effectively taken away blogging as my “excuse” to bring my camera with me everywhere I go. There’s definitely a sweet spot between “never blogging” and “terrorizing family and friends with your camera lens” and I’ll be working on finding it this summer.
So – why am I back? Well, one, my husband surprised me with the gorgeous arrangement featured in these photos and I couldn’t let them wilt without snapping them. (Fun fact: This is the first – I think? – set of flowers that Ryan’s ever gotten for me! In his defense, I’m afraid of real plants and have always warned him off of wasting his money on flowers but I’ve been turning the corner on that front lately and he surprised me with a delivery after a hard few days. Good man I married, right?!)
But the second reason I’m back is that I was recently featured on a podcast! And while it’s totally vain to revive my blog for a shameless plug, I can’t just not mention it as the hosts were so amazing and kind to have me on and the work they’re doing is so fantastic that I’m obliged to shout it out!
I spoke with Angelica Yarde and Charisma Moran from Heart and Hustle, a podcast that knows that “representation matters”, about business, life as an expat, and…well, condiments. I’ve been friends with Charisma for years, a fan of Angelica for ages, and couldn’t be more proud of them or excited for the ongoing success of this joint project of theirs! So, you can imagine that I was flattered – and nervous as HELL – to make my podcast debut with these super impressive business ladies!
I had a blast chatting with them and I hope you’ll give the episode a listen. When you’re done with that, be sure to browse through their archives and subscribe!
You can view the episode notes here and listen at the end of this post!
Now that I’ve broken my silence I should probably browse through and organize the zillions of links that I have saved for This and That and edit a few recent projects! This is a soft promise that I’ll be back soon. 😉
